So, how can you get more traffic to your website?
1. Search Engine Optimization
There are several things you can do quickly and easily to start moving the needle of traffic from the search engines and there are some things that can take time. Thankfully, you’ve got almost a whole year left in 2015. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? Even if you just do a little bit at a time, in the end you can win the race. 2. Content Marketing and Social Media
People love good content. Whether it’s an insightful article, entertaining video, or useful and crazy life hacks, people love good content. By creating good content on your website, you can bring in lots of new visitors (and get links which helps SEO). The best way to get good content out is through social media. By posting your content in Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, etc., you not only let people know about the content, but you also give them an easy way to share that content with their friends. If you continue to create new, good content, then people will start to follow you, making them more likely to see future content and return to your website.
Of course, social media isn’t all about posting content, it’s more about engagement. So, do post your content, but don’t stop there. Engage in conversations. Post questions. Ask opinions. Do surveys. You know, use social media to be…well…social.

3. Advertising:
SEO, Content Marketing, and Social media are great sources of traffic which can provide ongoing and increasing traffic as time goes on, but they can also take a while to get going. Advertising, on the other hand, can be quick and also effective. Google Adwords is the largest ad network in the online world. Not only can you put advertisements in search results, but you can put display ads on the vast majority of websites with ads on them, including high traffic sites like CNN and Zillow. Facebook also has advertising that not only can put in your site in front of millions of people, but they offer amazingly specific targeting so you can target just the people that would want to visit your website.

I've been working for 5 years as an SEO but many of my clients wouldn't want to spend on any Advertising they probably don't have the idea of how powerful Advertising can be for their business. Too bad they just wanna rely on SEO.
SEO is great and something I would recommend to just about any website owner, but that doesn't mean it's the only form of marketing worth doing. Advertising can be a good way to bring in more visitors and FB ads especially offer some great targeting options so you aren't wasting your money much on people who aren't going to convert anyway. Then, with advertising options like "retargeting" the advertising can work in concert with SEO improving the benefits of SEO. Win win!!
Kurt, I totally agree with you, there are many other advertising ways available excepting SEO which helps to receive traffic on website. According to me SEO is the authentic way of driving traffic, however It takes more time to give a result, But better than another way.
Thanks. Yes, there are several ways to drive traffic and I think it's helpful for people to consider them all.
Thanks for posting such an informative article. It was refreshing to read a posting about improving website traffic without being pitched a product. I appreciate the time you took to provide specifics as well as links to more useful tips.
You're welcome. I'm glad you found it helpful.
With regards item 3. Advertising. As well as traditional AdWords, Bing Ads, and Facebook Ads we’re having great success with YouTube instream and YouTube remarketing, it’s probably one of the best ROI’s at the moment, but it does need some preparation, and optimization, but well worth the effort.
Yes, Adwords and other forms of paid advertising do require ongoing work. They also carry with them some risk since you have to pay for the visitors and there's no guarantee that those visitors will convert.
