With about 4 million views in the 9 days it’s been on YouTube, the video The Digital Story of the Nativity is one of the hottest viral videos of this Christmas season. It’s pretty funny. If you haven’t seen it take a look…
While the video above has gotten a lot of attention, the creative folks at Igniter Media created a similar video called A Social Network Christmas. Igniter Media creates a lot of videos designed to be purchased by churches & played during worship services. So, their video is a little more serious/spiritual, but still good…
Would you like to see one of these videos played during a worship service at your church?
Do you think sharing these videos through social media is a good, effective way to share the Christmas story with friends and family? Have you shared them?

i don't like it!
Any particular reason?

I shared the first one.
Cool. I'd be curious to know what if any comments you get.
I'm going to post both them. The two are very different. I like the play on our communication lifestyle in the first one and I love the serious message clarity of the second. Have friends that will like and hate both. But this old preacher liked them both.
I have shared both on various platforms and enjoy them tremendously. Creative and engaging . . . what more could we ask for. I could see showing these to a youth group and asking them to discuss. The story is the same, the story-telling techniques always change to reflect the times.
After all, who had HD TV when Christ was born:)?
John
I think the second one was my favorite of the two..I'll check out the one on Steve's blog now…that was great too, but still liked second one best..
Weighing in late on this one. I posted the IgniterMedia video on our church's Facebook Page. But instead of just posting the link I uploaded it to FB. I knew it would get some link juice to our page but never expected what happened next…
1) Our fan page went from about 1000 Likes to right at 9000 within about 3 days of posting the video.
2) According to the insights the video has now been viewed over 1 million times
3) We now have over 25 countries represented in our fan base
4) Our Demographics shifted from the 35-44 year old crowed (which is what our church is geared towards) to the 18-24 crowd.
5) The video was liked 467 times and there are 312 comments on the video post itself. A debate raged on the video post about Atheism, christianity and etc. It was pretty interested. We monitored it and deleted offensive stuff but for the most part I just let it go.
I knew we'd gain some fans from the video being posted like it was, but never expected this. It has now changed the game for us when it comes to Facebook and we now have to figure out what we can do to appeal to those that have liked the page from other areas and countries.
pretty exciting stuff
the page is here: http://www.facebook.com/thrivechurchtx the video link is here: https://www.facebook.com/ThriveChurchTX?v=app_2392…
Wow, that's amazing Scott!
yeah it's been pretty interesting since I posted it. The couple of days after it keeping up with our page was a constant thing. And it's just me basically! There is power in posting videos on Facebook because it puts in the watermark to "LIke XYZ page" within the video. Most people that hit like inside the video had no idea they were liking a church's page. But now we have the chance to share Christ with them.. Might be the first time any of them have contact with a church.
Granted, I'm realistic and know that alot will simply hide our page's post or unlike the page, but still. The impact this can and will make are huge!
