As a part of Back to School Month here at OurChurch.Com, I thought it would be helpful to bring you some thoughts from people who have experience with school and class websites.  The first person that came to mind is my favorite teacher of all time.  She’s been teaching second grade at Immanuel Lutheran School in Brandon, Florida for 20 years (30 years teaching overall) and has managed a website for her class for several years.  So, I gave her a call, and fortunately my mother, Judy Steinbrueck, came through for me and agreed to an interview.

I think you’ll find the interview insightful.  If nothing else, the little nugget about how she has gotten her parents to read the online newsletter each week is gold.  That alone is worth the read, and the principle can be applied to other, non-education websites.

Today, I’m continuing our E-commerce Month series of articles.  By the way, didn’t Mark do a great job with his first ever blog article last week “The Who and Why of E-commerce?“  Why not show him some love by posting a nice comment to that article?

This week I thought you all might benefit from the insight of someone who has recently added e-commerce to his website.  Sean Steinbrueck owns and operates Hard Racing L.L.C., a successful high-performance motorcycle parts and accessories distributor which he started from scratch.  Hard Racing has had a website for a number of years, but prior to adding e-commerce capability, nearly all their sales were done over the phone.  Last year Sean called me and asked OurChurch.Com to develop an e-commerce shopping cart for Hard Racing, which we did.

As you might have guessed by his name, Sean also happens to be my cousin.  Last week I interviewed him by email about his experience of going e-commerce and what he learned from it. (more…)
