An English-language video posted to YouTube calls on Muslim hackers around the world to participate in a effort to bring down American and Israeli websites on September 11, the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US.
“We are the same people who f—–d you on April 7. And now we are back to punish you again,” the computer-generated voiceover declares.
You can see the video for yourself here. (Warning: there is one f-bomb in the video, and of course the whole message is one of hate.)
Thousands of Websites Affected?
While Christians and Christian churches are not specifically named in this attack, if hackers engage in denial-of-service attacks on US servers, it could affect thousands of websites. We’ll be monitoring our website, servers and Internet connections closely, and we encourage you to do the same.
Protect Yourself
Of course, there are always hackers out there looking to create havoc, add malicious code or insert spammy links into websites, so it’s important to practice good Internet security all the time.
- Have up-to-date virus protection software running on all your computers.
- Make sure website software is up to date. (If you use OurChurch.Com’s NE1 Web Builder or have a custom WordPress site with our full service option, we update your software for you automatically.)
- Don’t give out your passwords to someone who calls and claims to be your ISP, host or IT guy.
- Don’t open suspicious emails.
- Beware social media links. Often people’s social media accounts get hacked and are then used to send out messages to their friends with malicious links. If you get an odd message from a friend in Facebook or Twitter, reply to your friend and ask if they sent it or may have been hacked.
What security measures or procedures do you have in place to protect against or detect hackers? Any additional advice you would offer? Are you doing anything extra today because its 9/11 or due to the threat in the video?

We are praying for Yahvahs kingdom to come, and His will to be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Practically, we have every page of His web site, Harvest Ministry, backed up to our own computer and to an external hard drive. Bless you for watching and praying, and for blowing the trumpet to warn us.
That's a good, practical suggestion I should have included in the post – make sure all your content is backed up. We create a daily backup of all the sites we host and save that in a remote location to keep it safe. But not every hosting company does that, and even if they do it's always good to have your own backup.
