10 Way to Express Gratitude Through Social Media & the Web

thank you people gratitude social mediaCicero is quoted as saying, “A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.”

I believe that’s absolutely true! A grateful person is generous, helpful, uplifting and simply enjoyable to be around.

So, what are some ways we can express gratitude towards others and raise the value of gratitude online? Here are some of my ideas…

1) Thank people for comments & retweets. When someone posts a comment on your blog, Facebook post or LinkedIn group discussion, thank them. When they share or retweet something of yours, thank them. When they write a blog post about something you’ve done or linking to something of yours, thank them.

2) Share/post quotes & images about gratitude. In an effort to help our friends & followers start each day with an attitude of gratitude, each morning this month, we’re going to post a quote about gratitude to Twitter, Facebook and G+. You can share those and/or post your own.

3) Send or post a video thank you note. If you have a phone with video, Flip video recorder, or a web cam on your computer, you can record a thank you video message and upload it to YouTube or Facebook in a matter of minutes.

4) Purchase flowers for someone online through FTD.com or 1800flowers.com

5) Write a LinkedIn recommendation for someone.

6) Send a person a private thank you note via email, FB message, DM.

7) Write a blog post about the impact someone has made in your life.

8) Buy a person you appreciate a book (or ebook) through Amazon

9) Thank someone publicly on their FB wall or by public tweet

10) Post questions to Facebook, Twitter, etc asking others what they’re thankful for? Make things interesting by getting specific… Who is an unsung hero in your church you’re thankful for? What’s one website you’re thankful for? Who is someone that inspires you to be more grateful?

Bonus #11) Share this post & add your own ideas in the comments.

Which of these ways of expressing gratitude resonates with you? Got any stories to share of what happened when you thanked someone or someone thanked you online? What other gratitude ideas can you share with us?

Thanks for reading, commenting and sharing! #Grateful!

  1. I noticed a lot of my friends on FB have started thanking God each day of this month for something. So, I decided it would be a great way of getting myself into a thankful spirit and grateful heart preparing for Thanksgiving this year. So, I have been doing it, too. Each day, mentioning something in my status posting that I am thankful for.
