There are always a lot of predictions made about eCommerce during the Christmas season. The media reports projections of how much money will be spent on online purchase as well as polls results in which people were asked how much of their Christmas shopping they plan to do online. But predictions and polls don’t always match up with reality. So let’s talk reality…
How much Christmas shopping did you do online?
My wife handles most of the Christmas shopping for our family, so I don’t buy a whole lot of gifts myself. But I did buy a couple of books on Amazon and got a new phone for my wife on att.com. My brothers and I also went in together on a charter fishing trip for the men & boys in the family which we got through an online daily deal site like groupon. My big, surprise gift to Jennifer & our kids was a trip to North Carolina to play in the snow for 4 days, and I booked the hotel online.
So, I’d say the vast majority of my Christmas shopping was done online. How about you?

Over 75% of it be honest. But I like to shop throughout (okay, the last 4 months or so, really) the year and spread it out (the expense as well). There's a few things one has to see/handle before a purchase but I've been pretty fortunate to get what I want the first time over the web. I've been buying 'sight unseen' since Egghead.com came on line and have never looked back.
