Internet Evangelism Idea #5: Using Cell Phones for Evangelism
This post is part 5 in the series 20 Ways to Share Your Faith Online leading up to Internet Evangelism Day on April 25. We encourage you to tweet, share, blog & discuss these ideas in your church & circle of influence.
Cell phones and Facebook are two growing and key opportunities for sharing the good news. Many phones are now equipped to browse the Web, play videos or MP3s, download books and Bibles, and share resources by BlueTooth. In some countries, more people use mobiles than fixed PCs to access the Web.
Because a mobile phone is with us 24/7, we have opportunities to use it as an extension to a personal conversation.
One very strategic opportunity is to keep a range of short video clips loaded into a phone, which we can share with people when appropriate. Global Short Film Network offers conversation-starting videos of around 5 minutes length. There are several download services or freeware to download clips from YouTube. Alma is a compelling and chilling video animation that is a parable about entrapment and an ideal conversation starter, which would also be very useful in a youth group discussion. (‘Alma’ means ‘soul’ in Spanish.)
