So, as I hope you know by now we’ve been doing this change of pace series of #Gratituesday posts this month where step back from the ministry/tech talk to talk about what we’re thankful for. The first week we talked about websites we’re thankful for. Last week we talked about our favorite Thanksgiving memory.
One thing I’m always grateful for is the fantastic spread of food on the Thanksgiving dinner table.
So, what’s your favorite Thanksgiving recipe?
That question is way outside of comfort zone because outside of pancakes and eggs and occasionally throwing something on the grill, I don’t cook. If I had to submit my own recipe it would probably be for… cranberry sauce. 1) Buy a can of cranberry sauce, 2) open it, 3) put it in a serving dish.
Since that’s pretty lame, I got my wife, Jennifer’s recipe for…
Whipped Sweet Potatoes
3 cans (15oz ea) sweet potatoes, drained
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
3 cups mini marshmallows
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat sweet potatoes, butter, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in a medium bowl with electric mixer on mediumspeed until well blended.
Spoon into lightly greased 1 1/2 qt casserole dish; top with marshmallows.
Bake 15-20 minutes
Makes 10 servings 1/2 cup each
How about you? Got a special family recipe you’d like to share?

Since my immediate family usually does not do the cooking, my favorite recipe is eating everything everyone else prepared:)

Happy Thanksgiving to all and may God Bless you in a special ways this Holiday
I have been cooking the whole dinner for so many years for my family, that are now all grown up), that it is hard to pick a favorite. I love the atmosphere mostly, having everyone around, and my son and daughter usually help cook. In spite of all the big dishes there is one small side that I love to cook every year. String beans, (not french cut style), butthe reglar, thicker short ones. I cook the bacon first, about five pieces cut-p in thirds. Then I cook about 3 cans of stringbeans, ( I love the canned), with fresh water, none of the preservative liquid in the can. I add a little of the bacon grease,, about a third of a cube of butter, and let them simmer until all of the original taste is gone. I pre-boil the potatoes and add them to the stringbeans to simmer. I season with sea salt, pepper, my home made cajun seasoning and then add the bacon and simmer it a little more until the flavors meld together,..delicious!
Well… As a single man, I’m more of the eater than the preparer 🙂
I’m just grateful for all my wonderful friends, family and all the blessing’s God’s bestowed on my life and in turn allowed me to pass on to my clients.
2009 was a great year for us here at GCS, Inc. – In spite of the many “new” challenges thrown in our path by politicians, we helped many, many families keep their homes, and thousands of dollars in newly modified loan terms ..
I get no great sense of grattitude when I know our work has allowed another distressed family goto bed at night knowing their futures are much brighter, and the home they love will still be theirs for years to come ..
Thank you Lord for giving us the skills, strength and courage to do what we do every day ..
Happy Holidays everyone & continued success to all
