After searching far and wide for a Senior Web Applications Developer, we’ve added Ellen Annis to the OurChurch.Com team. She started this week, and so I’d introduce her to everyone who reads our blog by doing a little interview and give you a chance to say, “Hi” to her.
Paul Steinbrueck: Hi Ellen, I want to start by publicly welcoming you to the OurChurch.Com team. It’s great to have you on board! Tell us a little bit about your experience before coming to OurChurch.Com.
Ellen Annis: I have over 10 years experience in web development, multimedia development, design and marketing. I began as a graphic designer then quickly moved into programming and managing a small development team for a printing company. After 3 years there, I started my own business with a partner in St. Louis, MO. My role was the technical lead responsible for overseeing web and multimedia projects from start to end.
Paul: What was the coolest project you’ve ever worked on?
Ellen: The coolest project I have worked on was for an advertising agency in St. Louis. It was built with Flash and served as a portfolio site for them. I built a system for their employees to have their own pages allowing them a way to express their personalities to their clients. Through the custom pages employees were able to add video, music, links, blogs and photos.
Paul: That does sound cool. A very interactive site. What are you looking forward to most about working with OurChurch.Com?
Ellen: I am excited to assist OurChurch.com in developing more tools and services to better serve the online Christian community.
Paul: Cool! What do you like to do outside of work?
Ellen: I enjoy movies, reading (mostly about new tech trends) and kayaking. I love to travel and spend time with my daughter.
Paul: What’s the best book you’ve read or movie you’ve seen in the last year?
Ellen: well its an old movie, but new to me called A Woman is a Woman
Paul: It’s new to me too. Favorite TV show?
Ellen: I am watching Project Runway right now
Paul: Favorite food?
Ellen: Pizza
Paul: If you could take a trip anywhere in the world where would you go?
Ellen: Tahiti
Paul: What’s one thing God is teaching you these days?
Ellen: patience, I am working on it every day and I know God is helping me.
Paul: Ellen, thanks for doing this interview and giving everyone a chance to get to know you a little bit. I’m looking forward to all the awesome things you’re going to be developing for OurChurch.Com and our members.
Ellen: Thanks Paul, I am too!
