ForeSee Results has published a study that shows that a person’s satisfaction level with a non-profit’s website has a huge impact on whether they donate to or volunteer with that organization. The report states:
A highly satisfied visitor to a nonprofit’s website is:
- 49% more likely to donate
- 38% more likely to volunteer
- 57% more likely to have a favorable overall impression of the organization
- 65% more likely to recommend the site to others
- 55% more likely to return to the site
Wow!!!
The report goes on to state…
“the areas that will have the greatest impact on visitor’s likelihood to donate, volunteer, recommend, and return are the site functionality (the usefulness, variety, and convenience of features on the site) and image.”
In other words, if you manage a website for a nonprofit and it either a) looks bad, b) is difficult navigate, or c) is not very useful, it’s no small matter. You are really killing your organization.
“Nearly one-third of donors chose not to give online because the website functionality was poor.”
In other words, if you demonstrate incompetence in your website design, people of your ability to conduct an online transaction securely and they may also be skeptical of your ability to use the money wisely.
Do you know the satisfaction level of your visitors?
Or do you just assume that it looks fine and because you know your way around the site others can find their way too?
Perhaps it’s time to ask a few people who have never seen your site to take it for a test drive and give you some honest feedback. Or perhaps it’s time to invest in a new website.
